PAWS Houston is a non-profit organization that serves the needs of low-income pet owners who are living with terminal illness and elderly shut-ins. PAWS offers comprehehensive services designed to enable our clients to keep their animal companions. Services include an animal food bank, subsidized veterinary care, volunteer pet care, grooming, and foster care when the owner is in the hospital. By helping them keep their much-loved pets, we hope to improve their quality of life.

“My cats are my family,” says John. “They give me a reason to get out of bed everyday.” When funds were low, John went without his own food to feed his beloved cats. John, once a successful architect, lost his income and home when he became very ill. His cats offer love and companionship during these hard times. PAWS Houston is there to help him feed his cats as well as take care of their veterinary needs.

You Can Help End Hunger

Randalls was the first Houston retailer to agree to host the End Hunger Network's red barrels for a three-month trial period. Fourteen successful years later, the Red Barrel Program is a major source of food for 90 church and community food pantries across the Houston metropolitan area.

All those bags of food add up. In 1999, food collected in Randalls Red Barrels provided 86,628 meals for hungry children, seniors and working families. Next time you are in your neighborhood Randalls, don't forget to select a pre-sacked bag of grocery items for the Red Barrel, or pick up an extra can of vegetables or bag of rice and drop it in the Red Barrel on your way out. Together, we can help feed Houston's hungry.
